# View discounts and commitments

> Access discount details and commitment values for your billing profile.

View details related to your contract on the **Discounts & commitments** page. Both active and expired commitments are shown.

A *commitment* is a minimum spend you agree to in your contract for a defined period. A *discount* is a reduction applied to your charges in return for meeting that commitment. Upsun determines discount eligibility at the billing profile level when you establish a contract, and applies discounts automatically each billing period.

The Discounts & commitments page uses the following terms:

* **Contract total**: A total of the committed spend and discounts for the entire duration of the contract.
* **Commitment details**: Details shown are determined by the commitment structure agreed upon in the contract.
* **Commitment period**: The duration in which the commitment must be reached.

## Prerequisites

* Familiarize yourself with the [billing account](/docs/glossary#billing-account) and [billing profile](/docs/glossary#billing-profile) concepts.
* A billing account and at least one billing profile must exist. If you have not set these up, see [Set up a billing account and billing profile](/docs/administration/billing/bp-setup).
* You must be a billing member. See [Manage billing members on a billing profile](/docs/administration/billing/bp-users).

## View discounts and commitments

1. Complete one of the following steps:
   * From the organization menu (upper left), select an organization and then click **Billing**.
   * From the user menu (upper right), click **Billing** or a billing account.
2. On the billing account page, select a billing profile.
3. Click **Discounts & commitments**.

The page displays your contract total, commitment details, and commitment period.
