# Set up Linear

> Connect Linear to your Upsun Dispatch organization as a ticketing integration.

Connect Linear to make it available as a ticketing integration for your Upsun Dispatch organization. The Linear settings page is for authorizing and maintaining the connection.

## Before you start

You need:

* Access to the Upsun Dispatch organization you want to connect.
* Permission in Upsun Dispatch to manage organization integrations.
* Permission in Linear to authorize integrations for the Linear organization you want to connect.

<Note>
  Linear shows the exact permissions requested during authorization. Review that screen before approving the connection, and grant access only if it matches your organization's policy.
</Note>

## Connect Linear

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Linear integration settings">
    In the Upsun Dispatch console, open your organization settings, go to integrations, and choose Linear.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Start the connection">
    Select **Connect** on the Linear integration card. Upsun Dispatch sends you to Linear to authorize the connection.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authorize Upsun Dispatch in Linear">
    Review the Linear authorization screen and approve the requested access for the intended Linear organization.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Return to Upsun Dispatch">
    After authorization, Linear returns you to Upsun Dispatch. Confirm that the Linear integration shows as connected for the organization.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Required permissions

Upsun Dispatch relies on the permissions requested in the Linear authorization flow. Those permissions allow Upsun Dispatch to establish and maintain the Linear ticketing integration for the selected organization.

If you cannot approve the authorization request, ask a Linear administrator for access to authorize integrations, or have that person complete the connection from Upsun Dispatch.

## Issue creation and linking

Connecting Linear does not create or link issues by itself. It authorizes Upsun Dispatch to use Linear as a ticketing integration where Linear-backed behavior is available in the product.

Use the relevant Upsun Dispatch workflow or run view for the action you are taking. If a workflow or run references Linear, keep the Linear integration connected so Upsun Dispatch can use the authorized Linear organization.

## Manage the connection

Use the Linear integration settings in Upsun Dispatch to check whether Linear is connected for the organization. If you no longer want Upsun Dispatch to use Linear, disconnect the integration from the same settings area.

Disconnecting Linear removes the Upsun Dispatch connection for the organization. It does not delete Linear issues or change unrelated Linear organization settings.

For the broader integrations list, see [Integrations](/dispatch/docs/integrations).

## Troubleshooting

### Linear does not show as connected

Return to the Linear integration settings in Upsun Dispatch and start the connection again. Make sure the authorization finishes in Linear and redirects back to Upsun Dispatch.

### You cannot authorize the connection

Confirm that you are signed in to the correct Linear organization and that your Linear account can authorize integrations. If the authorization screen blocks approval, ask a Linear administrator to approve the connection.

### The wrong Linear organization was connected

Disconnect Linear in Upsun Dispatch, then connect it again and choose the intended Linear organization during authorization.

### Linear issue behavior is not visible

The integration setup page only manages the Linear connection. Open the relevant Upsun Dispatch workflow or run view to confirm whether that part of Upsun Dispatch supports Linear issue behavior.
